31 Years - Celebrating in Bonners Ferry

We've been in the RV since June 30th, still have not plugged in to power!! We are cheating though by spending 2 days at Kootenai River Inn in Bonners Ferry, love the AC, it's about 100 degrees out!

Where we spent our 31st Anniversary!

This is the far southern corner of the parking lot, where we parked our RV the first time in it after getting solar, thought we had the perfect spot, not realizing that on the other side of the fence was an extremely busy railroad crossing!!
Ahhhhh Air conditioning!

Nice room for Free!!! Mike had 2 free nights comped from May so we are taking advantage of it, and won a little too! All the rooms have balconies on the Kootenai River. Rocky loves the bed.

Some interesting facts about Bonners Ferry, it's about an hour to Canadian border from here.   From Wikipedia:  On September 20, 1974, the Kootenai Tribe, headed by chairwoman Amy Trice, declared war on the United States government. Their first act was to post soldiers on each end of the highway that runs through the town and they asked people, to pay a toll to drive through what had been the tribe’s aboriginal land. The money would be used to house and care for elderly tribal members. Most tribes in the United States are forbidden to declare war on the U.S. government because of treaties, but the Kootenai Tribe never signed a treaty. The dispute resulted in the concession by the United States government and a land grant of 10.5 acres (42,000 m2) that is now the Kootenai Reservation.[7]
Bonners Ferry is eight miles (13 km) from the site of the Ruby Ridge confrontation and siege in 1992.
In recent years, Mormon Fundamentalists from nearby Bountiful, British Columbia have established a presence in Bonners Ferry. They have brought with them the controversial practice of plural marriage.[8]
